Transcript

[Together] Hey, GQ!

What's up? I'm Jessie T. Usher and I play A-Train

Chace Crawford and I play The Deep.

I'm an Antony Starr and I play Homelander.

My name is Claudia Doumit and I play Victorian Newman.

I'm Karen Fukuhara and I play Kimiko.

Laz Alonso, Mother's Milk.

Erin Moriarty and I play Annie January.

These are the biggest moments

A-Train or A-Train? from Season Three.

Everyone's interrupting me.

Sorry. Sorry, sorry.

[Erin and Karen laughing] Sorry, buddy.

These are the biggest moments from Season Three.

You're gonna be thrilled.

[everyone laughing]

You're gonna be thrilled. It's thrilling.

[upbeat music]

Homelander's speech at his birthday extravaganza.

I'm done apologizing.

I am done being persecuted for my strength.

You people should be thanking Christ

that I am who and what I am because you need me!

You need me to save you!

You need me! [voices overlapping]

The beginning of my rap career.

[Chace] Yeah. [everyone laughing]

You mean my relationship development with Metro Boomin?

[everyone laughs]

Big moment in the show because it's the first time

Homelander really broke character

and

decided to really show who he is

and then he learns,

Oh wow! I can be myself and they love me for it!

Quote, unquote.

Then it leads to the end of the season

when he kills someone.

So it's the progression.

It's the beginning of that progression.

You're not the real heroes.

I'm the real hero.

It just happened to be

the beginning of my deep affection for

and relationship with Metro Booming.

[everyone chuckling] Metro Booming.

Metro Booming?

It's Boomin' isn't it? Boomin? [laughing]

[everyone laughs]

No do it again. Say it again.

No, no, no, it's Booming to his tight ones.

[everyone laughs]

Don't ever do that again! [everyone laughing]

Don't do that again, bro. [everyone laughing]

That was- Uh-oh!

Laz, you missed the-

[voices overlapping]

He did one of these on that. Oh!

That was fantastic. Yep, yep, yep.

Actually, they approached 'cause he wanted to use it

in the Heroes and Villains album.

We said, Yes.,

and then I heard the song

and, of course, that album went gangbusters.

I really wanna see it live. Thank you.

Well, yes, are you gonna do it live?

Can you do it live? Do you know what?

You gonna do the song live? Bro?

Here today...

[voices overlapping]

Metro goes on stage- No, he did Coachella

and he, at one point, Yeah.

he was in touch with me going,

Maybe you come out after.

That would've been so cool! Ooh!

Yeah, but we got a hologram of you now.

That'll be fine.

[everyone laughing]

[voices overlapping]

It was way cheaper for them

just to play the-

Yeah. Like, push record

and I was like, Oh, okay.

Nah. But it was talked about.

[upbeat music]

Homelander makes The Deep eat Timothy.

[tentacles squelching] [ominous music]

He's praying, he's praying.

[tentacles squelching] [Ashley retches]

Timotay.

Timotay! Timotay.

Homelander making The Deep eat Timotay

is a big moment because The Deep,

I guess it was quite ironic. loves all the creatures

in the sea. You were having

a relationship with Timothy.

No, it was a different thing.

[Claudia] Oh. [Erin laughing]

He was just friends with Timothy.

That's not my understanding.

It's a big loyalty test.

How far

Mm-hmm. is The Deep Willing to go...

[Erin laughing]

How deep as he willing to go? How deep will? One deeper.

Yeah, one deeper, one notch deeper.

I think I-

[tentacles squelching] [ominous music]

[The Deep grunts and slurps]

Timothy was made of filo dough,

and maple syrup, and chocolate.

And we won the PETA Award for it.

And we won the PETA Award

because he was made of filo dough,

and maple syrup, and chocolate.

It's mostly CGI. It's true.

It was, it turned out like

grosser than I remember it to be.

That was actually a very funny day.

'Cause they had taped nylon on your face as well.

Yeah. To make your face move

with the tentacles. Oh no.

It was hysterical. Yeah, it was funny.

It was very funny.

We had a big table and they did-

It was like an eight-hour,

it took eight hours to get all

Took a long time. everyone's reactions, but

Did you have a spit bucket? to be honest-

Oh yeah. I did have a stick bucket.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Yeah. Gross.

Yeah, it was pretty great.

It was actually like three takes.

It was one with the thing,

and then one with the pulleys,

and then Mm.

one with like, a little octopus

going into my mouth. Oh God.

Ooh. Rest in peace, Timothy.

Yeah. Rest in peace, Timothy.

[upbeat music]

[Together] Herogasm.

Party? Yeah.

The 70th anniversary of Herorgasm?

Fuck me.

Oh. [Love Sausage stretching]

Oh shit.

That was a-

Wasn't that like? Fuck.

[everyone laughing]

Just a little scarf.

Did he have it on a stick?

Was there like a literal...

Yeah, they gave us something.

They did! They did! They totally did.

'Cause Stefan was-

To both of 'em Stefan was-

to avoid. Like, okay, so the dude

that works on our special effects,

the head of special effects of The Boys,

was waving a like dick on a stick

[giggles] in front of our face Dick on a stick.

because we needed it for the full effect.

So we were dodging that thing. I remember it.

I can't forget that thing like, coming out.

It was very intrusive. He was, yeah,

it was very intrusive. Okay.

The most disturbing part It's true.

is we're just talking to this dude

trying to figure out what's going on

and we know we gotta get into the house

and all of a sudden

this sausage just comes flying out at our face

and I have yet to encounter this Love Sausage,

so we're just trying to keep our cool

and the way that we end up entering the house

is because I

provide an in-depth testimony

to his

skills. [giggling]

Yes.

I'm with her.

For the fuck party.

Yeah. Um. Mm-hmm.

No, he's very good at cunnilingus.

Yeah, his tongue is just- Oh yeah?

Yeah, he just gobbles that vagina right up.

Num, num, num, num, num, num, num!

Mm-hmm. [Annie giggles]

Love Sausage, huh?

It was the Love Sausage smelling me

that really just kind of...

Mother's Milk. There was no acting

required in that moment. Okay.

And then the Yeah, Kripke and I-

Num, num, num, num...

Kripke and I had a lot of back and forth

because I told him, I said,

The next time Mother's Milk sees Love Sausage,

it needs to be on-sight.

Like, it should really become hostile.

Okay. And Starlight

has to hold him back.

Kripke's explanation was,

Love Sausage doesn't recognize me.

He doesn't remember me. No.

Because really it was his penis

that strangled Mother's Milk through the window.

Sorry. But Love Sausage never saw

who he was strangling.

He only saw Karen's character knock him out.

Yeah. I saved you.

So technically, Love Sausage has never met me.

[suspenseful music]

[Hughie panting]

[Hughie punches A-Train]

Hughie! Hughie! How did you do that?

Hughie and I finally

get to

be vulnerable in front of each other

for the first time.

It just so happened that he was in a silky pink robe

and, you know,

there were just unmentionable things happening

to the left and right of us,

but sometimes you just gotta

get stuff off your chest, you know?

And that just so happened to be

the time and place that Hughie decides to

sort of bring it up to A-Train

and

A-Train was also going through

a lot of vulnerability in that moment as well.

And you know, just decided to address it

and sort of take a pause on his mission

for being in Herorgasm, which,

unlike everyone else, was not sexual,

surprisingly, you know what I mean?

Well, it didn't mean that same thing for me.

Yeah. We made it out.

Yeah, right.

That was the first time since,

you know, the accident.

If we can even refer to that.

Do you mean you running over You running over

It was an accident his girlfriend?

one! [voices overlapping]

Two, it was also her fault!

[voices overlapping]

Yeah, right? Yeah.

[voices overlapping] You know what I mean?

Like ultimate wingman. Thank you!

[Together] Yes! See in the...

In the subtext of the show. [Erin giggling]

Yeah. It was all

Starlight's idea. For love.

She was like, I like this guy.

Kill his girl. That's not a plot twist.

Boom. I planted it.

Spiral, spiral, spiral. Right.

Here we are. Yes.

They're in a relationship.

Pink robe, you know what I mean?

Thank you. You're welcome.

[upbeat music]

Homeland versus Butcher versus Soldier Boy

and a naked Hughie.

Naked because of his bamfing.

Mm. Those in the know

will know. Do it!

[dramatic music] [Homelander groans]

[Soldier Boy charging up]

Hughie!

Get out of here!

No fucking way!

[Homelander groans] [Soldier Boy charging up]

The reason it was important

is because that's the first time

Homeland has ever faced an existential threat.

Walks into a situation where he thinks

he's got everything under control

and then it spirals out of control.

It gets stranger and stranger for him.

[suspenseful music] [wall crunches]

[Homelander punches Soldier Boy]

[Soldier Boy thuds] [Homelander punches Butcher]

[Butcher and Homelander struggling]

[Hughie apparates and punches Homelander]

First of all, it's very complicated

to do those fight scenes as everyone here knows.

It's really hard. We got a great stunt coordinator

in John Koyama. Koyama.

He's amazing.

But that's labor-

It's hard work.

So there was that,

but then there was a lot of beat changes

in the

scene as well.

There's a lot to process

and I don't think we ever got there,

but then it leads to the mirror scene

and add a lot of layers to the character.

How many days did you guys shoot that fight for?

Oh yeah. Only two.

Really? Wow!

You know what? That's amazing!

That's difficult. That's amazing!

It was very difficult, but you know what?

It was me, Jensen, and Carl,

and Jack but Jack came in Naked Jack.

at the end. Thank you, Jack.

We were all- Oh, yeah.

Y'all nailed it. Naked, Jack.

But we were all pretty game

and we all just sort of,

Yeah. threw ourselves in

and despite it being a lot of hard work

in a very short space of time,

it was actually a lot of fun.

[upbeat music]

The truth about Victoria.

I need people to know what happened to me.

Tony, I can't.

Please.

[reverse alarm beeping]

Okay.

Yeah. The alleyway

Oh. fight scene.

That was fun.

That was so much fun.

[Chace] Turned out awesome.

That was great.

We were filming until like 5:00 AM.

It was so cold,

but I was like, The adrenaline!

Like, it was really Yeah.

Yeah. awesome.

It looked sick. Yeah.

There was so much fake blood

at some point it was drying

that I was just ripping out

[Erin gasps] bits of my-

Right? It's like a little wax.

Wow. It is!

It's like a little- It is. It's wax.

It's really painful.

Yeah, but that was fun.

And Hughie's hiding behind the bin.

Trash can.

We understood bin. And he spurted.

Thank you Bin.

[voices overlapping] We say, bin.

You can say bin, yeah. [voices overlapping]

I think it builds to where we've come now

where in her like, search for power-

She's willing to do anything.

She's willing to do anything to get there.

Can I just say my favorite part

about your character is that,

you know you're in the room

when your nose starts to bleed.

Yeah. Like, I fucking love that.

That's really cool. Has everyone here

seen

Gen V all the way through?

Yes! Yes! Yeah.

I love that show! I think that was a-

That was an interesting story. Oh yeah! That's right!

[voices overlapping]

Oh, that was! I didn't know that!

I didn't know that! I know!

When I saw, I went, Oh my God!

I was like, This is gonna be!

Okay. My bad. All right. [everyone laughing]

I got excited over that moment. I did.

I read the script and I was like,

I what?

Yeah. That's right.

I know. Yeah.

I would've never put that together.

Me neither. So good!

Thanks. Shout out

Eric. to the writers.

Yeah. Yes.

[upbeat music]

Final fight.

Yes, I am.

I am your son.

I am your blood.

That's all that matters.

[ominous music]

Maybe.

You know the funniest thing,

me and Jensen on set Oh.

[laughing] would go- [laughing]

What'd you do?

I don't know if this is bad.

You'd- It's probably bad.

[voices overlapping]

No, no, no. It's funny.

If he told me story of each other,

I'd be like, Papa!, and he'd be like,

Mijo! [laughing] Oh, that's cute.

Yeah. That was very sweet.

Towards the end of season three,

we find out that Homelander's father

is none other than Soldier Boy,

played by Jensen Ackles,

who's like one of the nicest human beings

Alive.

to- Ever.

I wouldn't say alive.

To have existed. But to come on our set.

So in the end there was a face off

with me and...

Your daddy. My father.

Yeah. A little bit like

Luke and Vader.

[Jessie] Mm-hmm.

I like to think of it like that,

which turned into Homelander and and Maeve.

And then all of y'all,

you,

and you, and you. We jumped you.

You all had a big fight with Soldier Boy.

Soldier Boy. We did.

So...

Mm-hmm. Actually, how was that

for you guys?

[Erin] I loved flying.

[Antony] Oh, that's right! You flew!

[voices overlapping]

And then I loved that after that entire season

with that shit that Hughie and I were going through.

I love that he's the reason why I flew.

Like, I'm sure I would've flown eventually, myself,

but he amped up the power so much

and he was the reason why I was able to fly.

So that was cute,

and then Soldier Boy just ricocheted me

off of the wall and smashed me into the ground.

But I still flew. [giggles]

For me, because

every season I try to negotiate

and try to get Mothers Milk powers,

Kripke shuts me down

Every time. every time.

We need to keep some Every time.

people- Like, what powers?

What powers do you pitch?

I don't know. I just want powers.

He pitched the team up

between A-Train and him, [everyone laughs]

he's like, Me and A-Train could be strong together!

[everyone laughs]

I just want powers.

But I will say to make up for it,

because he shuts me down,

he always gives me a cool weapon

Yeah he does. at the end.

And in this final fight,

I got a four-barrel shotgun.

[shotgun blasts]

Fuck your shield, bitch.

[everyone laughs]

Nice! That was a great line.

That was good, Say it again.

even right now. [voices overlapping]

I did terrible, right? Say it again,

Say it like you said it.

Fuck your shield, bitch.

Fuck your shield, bitch!

Woo

hoo-hoo! [voices overlapping]

Got chills!

[upbeat music]

I got it! Hey guys! He's got it! C'mon!
