What's up, GQ Sports?

This is Chito Vera and here's my essentials.

[upbeat pop music]

My first essential, it's a pair of shoe.

[shoebox thuds]

And another pair of shoe.

And I brought a few pairs of my shoes,

[shoeboxes thudding] 'cause I love my shoes.

I have a big collection, [camera shutter clicks]

and I really make sure I take care of my shoes.

I mean, these pairs right here are pretty special.

It's a Crazy Colorway

and it's just a lot of radiation of happiness right here.

Pretty much every Sunday,

I put seven pair of shoes ready to go,

and every week, I rotate them.

And I do the whole process.

I clean them, put 'em back in the box.

I burn incense in my garage so they can have a nice aura.

Kind of like put music to them.

I mean, I treat 'em like they're plants, I give them love.

I will play some Canserbero or Lil Supa,

something like that.

If I'm listening to some jazz,

it will be some Miles Davis, some Herbie Hancock.

If I'm listening to some rap, especially to this pair,

I gotta play some Action Bronson, I will do Kool G Rap.

You gotta take care of your things.

[upbeat music]

[camera shutter clicks]

[camera whooshing]

Today's generation, everybody's on their phone.

I think the way pictures come on this thing

and the memories that talk for it,

they are way better than phone pictures.

So I keep one with me at all times.

I shoot a lot.

I got some crazy footage from this camera.

I've been backstage in concert, backstage on the UFC.

I have some crazy Action Bronson backstage.

When I see a cool place or a cool activity,

I just make sure I shoot it, and I have a lot of good ones.

It's point and shoot, right? You just gotta let it go.

[camera shutter clicks]

[camera shutter clicks] Sunglasses.

I have many sunglasses,

but these Bottegas are my favorite ones.

I got in three colors, I got a brown, I got green,

and the daily driver, I got it in black.

This is really my favorite sunglasses.

I wear it literally every day.

But this is my out-and-about sunglasses.

When I'm running, I gotta go fast and I use these Oakleys.

And I have these same sunglasses also

in probably five different colors

because they're comfy and they're lightweight.

But since I cannot pull it off like other people does,

this is my everyday ones right here.

[camera shutter clicks]

I don't just drink coffee,

I gotta drink it in a nice, good-looking mug.

If not, it's not done right.

This is made in Ecuador, which I like the most.

I drink coffee a lot of times a day.

Today, I have probably five or six, all straight black.

I haven't do my dirty chai today,

but I will do one tomorrow.

I love dirty chai.

As you can see, I'm the dirty chai king.

I got three coffee machines at home.

I have one in the kitchen, I have one in the living room,

and I have one outside my room.

So I do coffee when I'm training,

in training camp, out of camp.

I do it before, I do it after, I do it in between.

I do coffee when I wake up

and I do coffee sometimes before I go to bed.

I just love the smell and taste of coffee.

And making a good cup of coffee, it's magical.

Shampoo, my conditioner, and my body cream.

[camera shutter clicks]

I use Le Labo.

Out of all the brands I've been getting to know,

this has become my favorite.

I mean, you can see this beautiful hair.

Soft, nice skin, body lotion.

And this pretty face needs some work,

so I got even the face cream of Le Labo.

I mean, look at this, it's like a monument.

Everything I do is about health.

I don't do processed food.

I don't eat chemical shit.

I'm pretty clean because I just wanna feel good.

And when you think about it,

everything you put in your body, in your hair, in your head,

that gotta go through your skin

and get to your system, right?

So, I mean, it's a great brand, clean ingredients,

and I smell fucking delicious.

[gentle upbeat music]

[camera shutter clicks]

I take pictures with my cars like girls do with,

I don't know, with their puppies. [laughs]

I grew up wanting to have these cars.

And I'm gonna go with my first one.

[keys jangling]

My F-150 '92.

That's the most sentimental car I have

because it's what my father drove his whole life.

When I was a kid,

I really thought I was the coolest kid on town

because we had a red F-150 '92.

[keys jangling]

Just the same I have right now.

That's my heart, my red truck, I love it.

These two right here, I got a beautiful Grand National '87,

nice twin-turbo, rides perfect, got some balls.

I love that car.

My Impala '96 SS. [keys jangling]

It's a fun ride.

That thing give you life when you're driving that thing.

[keys jangling]

It's comfy-size.

You're in an epic, nice couch when you're driving.

I love it.

And to go a little farther, M5 Competition.

If I need to get quick somewhere, I take this one.

If I wanna cruise and just be peaceful with the world,

these are my three ones right here.

[camera shutter clicks]

[bags crinkling]

My next essential, dried mango, freeze-dried pineapples.

I bring it everywhere I go.

If I'm on the road, dried mango.

If I'm hungry, dried mango.

If I want mango, dried mango and pineapple too.

But this one is my favorite out of the two.

This brand make a small bag, which is great.

This one, you gotta finish it

because there's not too much on it.

But I do this almost every day, in camp, out of camp.

I mean, I order a shitload of both.

And I have at home a stock.

It could be the end of the world

and I will have dried mango.

[upbeat music]

[camera shutter clicks]

[cooler thudding]

Rib eyes and more rib eyes and liver.

[packaging crinkling]

I admit, six days out of seven days,

if they're not seven days a week.

So between this and dried mango and pineapple,

that's almost what I do every day, fruit and meat.

And I cannot explain to you how happy I feel about it.

I love my steak rare or medium rare.

I eat my meat pretty bloody.

Rib eyes are easy to cook.

And liver, it's almost like sashimi.

But tomahawks, I love to cook tomahawks.

I start them on the Traeger grill for an hour.

I like to smoke them pretty good.

And after that, I put it on the charcoal

and I cook it really good on every side,

put some butter on top, let it rest for 10 minutes,

and [exhales] that thing come off the bone like a pro.

[fingers snapping]

I eat clean year-round.

I mean, protein, fruit, good fats.

And I just eat whatever comes out of the earth.

If you are on this earth, you're eatable.

Could be plants, could be meat, could be fruit.

I go out of camp, I eat a full rib eye.

In camp, those meals just get a little smaller.

But my weight is always good because I eat good.

I'm an athlete, I live like one.

And I love my steak.

[upbeat music]

[camera shutter clicks]

My Puffco.

These things are amazing. They work great.

[case clicks]

I bring my Puffco everywhere. It's easy to travel.

There's water in here so you can close it or open it.

And they're reliable. They get the job done.

They look pretty and they work.

[Interviewer] How many do you have?

[laughs] 15 ones.

I got a few travelers, a few for home.

I use like my sneakers and rotate them.

Sometimes it's my white one, then my black one.

My brown one, I just opened it right now.

I mean, they're great, beautiful devices.

I like to smoke when the day's over.

Before training, I try to not smoke.

You go in there, you get your job done, you work hard.

Before long runs, I do smoke.

Before surfing, I do smoke.

And I will smoke after this.

[gentle upbeat music]

[camera shutter clicks]

This essential right here,

I will say it's the best essential in my life.

Surfing to me, it's like therapy, it's like doing yoga.

And I try to surf as much as I can,

really close from a fight, far from a fight.

The peace I get from surfing is,

I mean, it's the best sport in the world.

I could do this every day of my life.

I mean, these two are pretty fun.

This is a really short board, it's like 5'0, 5'1.

This is tiny.

So this is really when the waves are kind of small.

It's pretty fat. It's easy to get in the wave on time.

But this is for fun.

When the waves are a little better or bigger,

this one right here gets the job done.

I grew up surfing.

I would say I would become friends with Kelly.

When I was a kid, they were my idols.

So that's really the coolest part about surfing

that I get to meet them.

Out of all my favorite surfers,

he was the first one that gave me a surfboard.

So that one, I used it for a year.

I don't use it anymore just because it means so much to me.

I don't wanna break it, whatever, I don't know.

I don't touch that one anymore.

That came from Kelly's hand, so that board is art.

[upbeat music]

Thanks for checking out all my essentials.

See you guys next time.
